To Preseve and Protect Canadian Rail Heritage

RERA Canada is dedicated to preserving and protecting Canada’s rich rail heritage.  Our mission is to locate, stabilize, procure, and transport historic rare locomotives, ensuring their relocation for operational use. We are committed to the preservation and restoration of historic railway equipment, executing complex moves over land and rail to facilitate the enjoyment and education of future generations. Through our efforts, we aim to safeguard the legacy of Canadian railways, allowing others to experience and appreciate this vital part of our history.

RERA Canada is a nonprofit corporation, registered in 2024.

RERA Canada is working with the US-based Railroad Equipment Restoration Association (RERA), who owns three locomotives and various rail cars that were acquired from the bankruptcy trustee for the former York-Durham Heritage Rail. RERA has operated trackage in Central Pennsylvania since 2018. RERA locates, stabilizes, procures, and ships several historic rare locomotives relocating them for operations and/or brokering sales. RERA key goals is the preservation and restoration of historic railway equipment executing complex moves over land and rail of railway equipment to facilitate preservation of history for others to enjoy.
